SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (Shelbyville News) - The Shelby County Jail is temporarily without hot water.
The Shelby County sheriff said Monday that a degenerated coil in the jail’s water heater needed to be replaced. The issue was discovered Friday when jail workers tried to find the cause of a leak, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner The Shelbyville News reports.
Since the jail was built 20 years ago, it has had six or seven water heaters.
The sheriff suggested purchasing a nickel-plated coil from California that could be delivered within 24 hours.
Commissioners in the county agreed with the suggestion and approved its purchase.
A one-mile stretch of State Road 135 was closed Friday as firefighters battled a house fire, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
