JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Indiana State Police officials are searching for a suspect in Johnson County after a pursuit that went into two counties. Officials say that person is armed and dangerous.
Johnson County dispatchers say the chase started with a chase on I-65 in Johnson County around 3:45 a.m.
A Whiteland Police officer at a truck stop noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen from a video store in Franklin.
Officials chased the suspect vehicle into Shelby County. A Shelbyville officer was injured at some point during the chase. It is not yet clear how that officer was injured.
At least twice, officers deployed stop sticks, but the chase continued back into Johnson County. An Indiana State Trooper tells 24-Hour News 8 the suspects continued to drive on their rims.
Police were able to stop the vehicle near a Walmart in Franklin, and one man was took off on foot. He was chased by K9 officers. Officials say the suspect, identified as Joshua Spoonamore, had to be taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained from the K9 officer.
Spoonamore, who was the reported driver in the incident, was taken to jail are has been preliminarily charged with resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, attempted battery, failure to stop, possible stolen property, reckless driving and habitual traffic offender.
Police are now searching for the passenger, who was in the vehicle and able to get away. He is described as a white man, weighing 140 pounds, and 5'11. Officials have identified him at Sherman Parks. Officials say he is armed and dangerous.
Whiteland Police ask that if you know Parks' whereabouts that you call 911 and do not approach.
