MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A 34-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to have a sexual relationship with a young boy was sentenced to 12 years in prison, 24-Hour News 8's news partner, the Daily Journal , reports.
Martinsville woman Mindy J. Skeen had pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, both Class B felonies. A Johnson County judge sentenced her to six years for each count.
A 14-year-old boy came forward to police this year saying he had a sexual relationship with Skeen than began in 2009 and continued for more than a year. The boy's father found out about the relationship through a text message and the teen reported it to police.
Deputy Prosecutor Doug Cummins said the guilty plea saved the boy from going through a traumatic trial.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office has been busy calculating the costs of the David Bisard trial.
