INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The suspect accused in the shooting death of IMPD Officer Rod Bradway was Steven Byrdo.
Byrdo, 24, has a criminal history that includes possession of and dealing cocaine, according to Indiana Department of Corrections information.
IDOC indicates Byrdo was released from their custody in June of this year.
Byrdo was killed Friday morning when gunfire was exchanged at a northwest side apartment complex. IMPD Officer Bradway was also killed. Byrdo didn't live in the apartment where the shooting occurred.
IDOC officials told 24-Hour News 8 that Byrdo's recent stint in prison was because he violated the terms of his probation from a 2011 case. He was released from prison on June 18 and last received a visit from his parole agent on Aug. 23.
