PUTNAM CO., Ind. (WISH) - A traffic stop Sunday evening let to to two people arrested on drug charges.
Between 9 and 10 p.m. Sunday, an Indiana State Police trooper pulled over a car that was speeding on U.S. 40 at the Putnam-Clay County line.
The trooper said he could smell marijuana and that led to a search of the vehicle.
The search turned up two small baggies containing 2-21/2 grams of the suspected drug.
The officer also recovered some $8,000 in cash. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody.
They face several charges which include; possession of marijuana, dealing a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance and speeding.
A handgun was also recovered but police say the owner has a license for the weapon and will be returned once the owner is released.
3 P.M. UPDATE: Snow began picking up a little bit in areas west of Indianapolis. Recent snowfall amounts indicate 10 inches in Vincennes, 6 1/2 inches in Martinsville, 7 1/2 inches in Bloomington and 5 inches in Seymour.
