MIAMI (AP) — A jury in South Florida returns for day 4 of deliberations today in the trial of one of the men accused of shooting to death Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor.
Some jurors told a judge Friday they were having difficulty deciding the fate of 23-year-old Eric Rivera Jr. Rivera faces life in prison if convicted of killing Taylor during a botched November 2007 burglary at the Pro Bowl safety's Miami-area home.
Rivera confessed on police videotape that he shot Taylor after kicking in a bedroom door. But on the witness stand, Rivera said overzealous investigators coerced his confession and he claimed that someone else shot Taylor.
Four other young men were charged in the case. One has pleaded guilty and the others will stand trial later.
