PENSACOLA, Fla. (WISH/WALA) - A federal judge has ruled troubled Hamilton County financialadvisor Marcus Schrenker is competent to stand trial.
The decision was based on an evaluation performed April 17 ata Federal detention center in Miami. The 16 page report has beensealed by Judge Roger Vincent.
Authorities say in January Schrenker put his plane onautopilot, made false distress calls and bailed out of his planebefore it crashed in Florida in an effort to fake his owndeath.
He was found two days later at a campground near Tallahassee.
The financial advisor told Good Morning America earlier thisweek he's had mental problems since 2007 and was not of sound mindbefore parachuting from his plane.
Neither the U.S. Attorney or Schrenker's Attorney wouldcomment on the proceeding.
His trial date is scheduled for June 8. Jury Selection willbegin that day at 9 a.m.
