INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - State Sen. Mike Delph will not seek office in Washington, D.C., the Indiana senator announced on Wednesday.
Delph (R-Carmel) said he won't pursue the 2012 U.S. Senate seat or the 5th Congressional District seat.
"After much prayer and family consultation in addition to discussions with friends and supporters here in Indiana and in Washington, D.C., I have determined that my duty is here in Indiana raising my family and serving my current constituents," Delph said in a news release. "My wife and daughters need me here in Indiana helping with homework, assisting with carpooling, and just being Dad."
Delph went on to say that campaigning for and serving in D.C. would put stress on his family.
