INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana Lieutenant. Governor Becky Skillman announced Monday that she will not run for Governor in 2012.
"With much disappointment, I am announcing today that I will not be a candidate for Governor in 2012. My end of year physical exam revealed minor health issues," Skillman said, " Nothing will interfere with my devotion to my duties as Lt. Governor, and I plan to continue the same pace as always. However, it is best to continue without the additional stress of a gubernatorial campaign."
As lieutenant governor, Skillman leads the State Department of Agriculture, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the Office of Energy Development, the Office of Defense Development, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, and the Office of Tourism Development. She also chairs the Indiana Counter Terrorism and Security Council and serves as the President of the Indiana Senate.
In court documents filed Monday afternoon, 20-year-old Jacob McDaniel was officially charged with reckless homicide and pointing a firearm in the shooting death of a Noblesville teen.
Sunday night, Johnson County officers were called to a Whiteland home, when a woman called to say she was being attacked by her 18-year-old grandson.
Work began in the old Indianapolis City Hall on Monday morning.
