1. Storm leaves thousands without power
Friday morning, power is out for a lot of people following overnight storms. The area with the most outages in on the south side of Indianapolis, where a major traffic light is out. The winds also knocked down trees in many spots around the area. So far, no injuries have been reported.
2. Trick-or-treating on Friday
Trick-or-treating is Friday night for most places in Central Indiana. It was delayed Thursday because of the weather. For trick-or-treating times in your area click here.
3. Food stamp program cuts
The government is cutting $5 billion from the Food Stamp program, and those cuts take effect Friday. For families on food stamps, that means up to $36 less each month.
4. High school football
Friday night is sectionals semi-finals for high school football. 24-Hour News 8 is covering all of the big games in The Zone. The Zone tailgate is at Southport High School. Southport is taking on Tech.
5. Time change
This weekend we “fall back.” Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. So, you’ll set your clock back an hour when you head to bed Saturday night.
