INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Colts have gotten down to their mandated 75-man active roster.
They waived-injured wide receiver Nathan Palmer, placed safety John Boyett on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list and moved linebacker Josh McNary to an exempt status on the roster.
McNary’s exemption is under the Reserve/ Military rules where a player has not played in any preseason games and reported after June 1, 2013. If Palmer clears waivers, he will be placed on the Colts’ Injured Reserve list.
The Colts now have to get down to a 53-man roster by Saturday. Thursday’s game against the Bengals will play a critical role for those players trying to grab those final roster spots.
“When you look at our roster, we created so much competition and we’re deeper across the board at all positions, so we’re going to have to let some really good football players go,” said Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. “And they’ll end up on other teams like everybody else’s guys, but it’s going to be tough.”
