INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Competitive wrestling is a man's world, but one IPS school is trying to change that mindset.
Crispus Attucks has a proud wrestling history, all male, but now the school is mostly female, making up the bulk of the current wrestling team.
One such lady, Maria Palma, has become a star for the school.
“I’m the first girl to make it to state regionals at Attucks, so I'm really happy about it," said Palma.
“She’s willing to take all the stuff, get on the mat and bruise it out with a bunch of guys,” said head coach Robert Hawthorne. “She’s a great athlete."
