INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - New opportunities for race fans are coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this May including the chance to buy a suite ticket for Carb Day.
"It allows a fan who can't afford to have a suite for the entire (race weekend) event to see what it's like on one of our best days," said IMS spokesperson Doug Boles.
For $350, fans get access to the air-conditioned suite along with food, private restroom, an up-close view of the action and access to the pits.
Boles said it's something they're trying this year to gauge interest.
Also new at the track this year – the chance to buy a parking space inside turn three.
"It's really opportunity to for our tailgaters to know they've got a spot, they can still come early if they want, but … you don't have to be here at two o'clock in the morning, you can show up when the gates open," said Boles.
The speedway is also stepping up its race day Snakepit festival with musical groups Afrojack, Diplo, and Topher Jones on stage. Admission is free with a $30-dollar race day general admission ticket. Click here for more information on tickets.
Boles said last year, the Snakepit brought in six-thousand new people that had never been there before - a younger generation the speedway hopes to keep for years to come.
"We hope it's a stop for them every year," said Boles. "And as they get older and decide they don't want to go to the snake pit we hope they continue to make that part of their tradition and transfer their time and sit in the grandstand and watch our events."
