INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Some of the biggest faces in IndyCar returned to Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tuesday morning for a Firestone tire test.
2013 Indy 500 champion Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti, Marco Andretti, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud and Justin Wilson were the drivers involved in the test.
But the buzz at the track was less about the testing and more about Kanaan's future in the sport. Reports surfaced last week that he had been in talks with Joe Gibbs Racing to make a move to NASCAR. While Kanaan wouldn’t spill details, he did confirm the possibility of the switch.
“Right now, I'm looking. I have nothing on the table. I'm a free agent. I'm going to explore every single option,” said Kanaan. “I don't want to find myself in the same situation I was three years ago that I was out of a job in February.”
Kanaan has been looking for sponsorship to stay with the IndyCar series.
