INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Pacers head coach Frank Vogel says Brad Stevens will do great coaching the Boston Celtics.
"I think it's a brilliant move by (President of Basketball Operations) Danny Ainge and the Celtics because obviously Brad is a brilliant coach and he's just going to do great," Vogel said in a release on Friday.
Vogel admits that he was shocked when he heard the news of Stevens's new job. Officials say Vogel and Stevens will sit down later next week to discuss the transition from college to the NBA.
"He's going to have an adjustment period that as long as he's surrounding himself with experienced NBA guys, it'll be a smooth transition," Vogel said. "Once you get into practices and games, it's just basketball."
Vogel said Stevens has an ability to build relationships with his players. Vogel said he is fully confident in Stevens' coaching abilities.
Stevens is now the youngest head coach in the NBA, making Vogel, 40, the third youngest in the NBA.
