WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue starts a new football era Saturday.
Coach Darrell Hazell will make his Big Ten debut and quarterback Rob Henry will start behind center for the first time since 2010.
The hope is these changes will help get the program dubbed the Cradle of Quarterbacks back on track.
A year ago, the Boilermakers opened the season talking boldly about playing for a Big Ten title. This year, Purdue is simply trying to adapt to Hazell's new expectations, a new coaching staff, a new playbook and a new voice in the huddle as they prepare for Saturday's season opener at Cincinnati.
While Hazell has liked what he's seen so far, he also understands the real test is still to come.
