INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne made his 1,000th career reception in the fourth quarter of their Monday night game against the San Diego Chargers.
With the catch, he becomes the ninth player in NFL history to accomplish that feat, joining Jerry Rice, Tony Gonzalez, Marvin Harrison, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Terrell Owens, Isaac Bruce and Hines Ward.
“It’s a great honor," said Wayne. "It’s a humbling experience to be in an elite class with a bunch of guys who have helped pave the way for guys like myself."
Wayne, however, was quick to deflect from his personal accomplishment.
"I wish it would have been more of a greater celebration," added Wayne. "I would of much rather of taken the W than any accolade. We gave this one up.”
The right two lanes of Interstate 70 east near Interstate 465 were closed Tuesday evening due to a crash.
