INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - It was the 10th annual Mutt Strutt, a chance to walk your dog around the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and raise funds for the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
Dick Wolfsie was out there just before the mutts made their way along the miracle two and a half miles. He also had a chance to talk with race car driver Simon Pagenaud, last year's IMS rookie of the year. Simon, a real dog lover, has agreed to foster a dog in his motor home during the month of May.
It's too late to walk this year, but next year they hope to increase the estimated 6000 entrants- that's people, not dogs.
More like 7000 of the canine species were also expected. The Humane Society provides the water, but a doggie bag is much appreciated before you get the green light to go.
UPDATE 10 P.M.: Indy Snow Force says there were 90 drivers out salting the roads.
With some of the coldest nights of the season on the way, shelters are preparing for a rush of people trying to stay warm.
Christmas is just over two weeks away, but it came early for some very special kids in Hancock County.
