Freeze warning overnight; slow warm up coming

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The winter that just hangs on gives us another dose of chill overnight.  Some warmer temperatures are showing up in the next 8 days.

Monday night:

Pesky snow flurries and showers will gradually wind down late Monday night into the overnight hours.  We’ll see partial clearing of the cloud cover – just enough to send our temperatures below freezing.  A Freeze Warning is in place through Tuesday morning for the southern half of Indiana.

By the way, the average date for the last freeze in Indianapolis is……April 16. (Today)

Overnight lows fall to the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Tuesday:

Mostly cloudy and cold start to the morning, followed by a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon.  Temperatures will be considerably warmer, but still cooler than normal for this time of year.  Highs top out in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Wednesday:

Next precipitation chance will likely bring in a quick surge of warmer air, with highs hitting the middle and upper 60s.

Showers will slide into central Indiana by Wednesday afternoon, and should be relatively scattered.

8 Day Forecast:

Temperatures remain in an up and down pattern, but not quite as extreme as what we have experienced the last 2-3 weeks.  We’ll see numbers fall back to around 50 for a high on Thursday, followed by pushing into the 60s, or close to it, by Friday into the weekend and beyond.
