Heatwave continues, but relief is in sight

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — This year, we’ve already seen some scorching hot days. In fact, we have had eight 90°+ days and summer hasn’t even started yet.

Highs today have topped out in the low to mid 90s.

We will have a warm, muggy evening with temperatures still hanging in the 80s after 8 PM.

Lows will only bottom in the mid 70s, which is much higher than our average low of 63° for this time of the year. You will definitely want to crank up the A/C tonight. It will also be muggy due to the higher humidity values.

Another hot day is in store for us tomorrow as we also look to remain dry once again throughout the day. The heat index will also be up to 100° by the afternoon. Drink plenty of water and limit time spent outdoors.

We will have considerable cloudiness across the state throughout much of the afternoon with just a stray storm or two.

Highs will top out in the low 90s, Monday.

Some isolated showers may form in Northern Indiana just before midnight with better storm chances into Tuesday.

Tuesday will be the first of several days with better storm chances. The rain will be most widespread through the afternoon and evening hours.

Several spots could see several inches of much needed rain by the end of this work week. Keep the rain gear handy!

The rain showers and storms will also help to finally cool us off a bit as we head into mid-week. Highs will drop back to near average levels, the mid 80s, until we see another rebound into next weekend.
