Near record breaking heat expected for the last weekend of spring

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday morning, everyone! It’s Flag Day and the Army’s Birthday and we’re off to a mostly clear and more comfortable start, especially compared to the past few mornings. We’re seeing less humidity thanks to a north wind.

Outside of a rogue shower early on, most of us will see a mix of sun and clouds through the rest of the day.

High temperatures this Thursday afternoon will top out in the mid 80s, just a bit above average for this time of year.

Late this evening, temperatures will slowly sink into the mid 70s before midnight and eventually tumble into the mid 60s by the time you head out the door for your Friday morning commute.

Outside of a stray shower Friday afternoon, we look to remain partly to mostly cloudy with high temps reaching the low 90s.

Temperatures will continue to soar into the weekend with limited rain chances.

Heat indices this weekend will top out in the triple digits in a few isolated areas, so if you have any outdoor plans, make sure to stay cool and hydrated and take plenty of breaks.

One of the top 8 things to do in Indy this weekend is the Taste of Broad Ripple in its fifth year. We could see a stray shower this Saturday, though most of us will stay dry and hot.

Additional rain chances are possible Sunday, but most of the weekend as a whole will be outdoor plan and pool friendly.

Better rain and storm chances look to return by the middle of next week which will drop high temperatures into the mid 80s for the first day of summer, next Thursday.
