Nice weekend comes to an end with strong storms set to slide in Monday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Sunday evening, everyone! Temperatures continue to rise this weekend with mostly dry conditions, but rain and strong storms will return for the start of the work week.

High temps this afternoon topped out in the mid 80s in most areas with a mix of sun and clouds.

With a few lingering clouds into the overnight, temps will be slow to drop. We will sink into the mid 70s just before midnight…

…bottoming out in the mid 60s to low 70s for your Monday morning commute.

While we’re going to give the morning drive a green light with just mostly cloudy skies, make sure to take the rain gear with you as showers and storms will develop by mid-day and continue into the evening.

Temperatures will surge into the upper 70s and low 80s tomorrow afternoon.

By the early afternoon hours, broken lines and clusters of strong storms will develop.

We’ll continue to see lingering storms through the evening and more widespread rain by late evening and into the overnight.

Some storms tomorrow will be on the strong side and potentially severe, especially in southwest Indiana where a SLIGHT Risk is in place. The rest of central Indiana is under a MARGINAL Risk.

Damaging wind and flash flooding are the biggest threats, though hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Rain showers and storms will continue into Tuesday with high temps in the mid 80s.

Over the 48 hour span, Monday and Tuesday, some areas could see several inches of rain, while other areas may miss out on the rain altogether.

The rain will move out by late Tuesday and we’ll remain dry through mid-week.

Behind this potent storm system, we will see a nice taste of fall with low humidity and below average temps.

Enjoy it while it lasts as temps look to rebound by late week and next weekend with highs returning to the upper 80s and potentially the low 90s in a few spots by Monday of next week!
