Not so Fast Friday on the way with widespread rain and storms likely

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Happy Friday, everyone! Get the umbrella out and take it with you as you head out the door this morning. You may not need it right away, but scattered rain showers and storms will become fairly widespread by mid-day.

The morning commute looks nice with cloudy skies and mild temps. We’ll start off in the low 60s.

By lunchtime, showers and storms will become numerous, so eating outside today might be a challenge. If you are heading to Fast Friday at IMS, expect delays.

Temperatures will eventually climb into the low 70s in most areas, 10-15° cooler than what we’ve seen high temp wise the past several days and the first below average high temp in the month of May so far.

Scattered storms will continue through the late evening and into the overnight, so if you have any Friday plans, try to plan for short walking distances outdoors.

We’ll drop into the low 60s by daybreak Saturday with just a few isolated rain showers lingering around.

Another round of scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will slide through the state by Saturday afternoon and continue until late Saturday evening before we catch a break in the wet and stormy weather.

Temperatures through the first half of the weekend will top out in the upper 70s, followed by mid 80s again for the second half of the weekend, Pole Day.

After a stormy start to the weekend, rain chances will taper off a bit by early next work week, so you’ll have a few days to get some outdoor yard work taken care of.

High temperatures will vary the next eight days, ranging from the mid to upper 80s to as low as the low 70s which we’ll see today.
