Storms tonight; drier days ahead this week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Strong to severe storms are possible Monday night.  Quieter pattern shakes out for the middle of the week.

Tonight:

Scattered storms continue to develop – we could see a few of the storms turn severe, with damaging winds and large hail the primary concern.  An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.  Much the metro, along with east central Indiana are included in a slight risk for severe storms.

Window for severe storms will be tight, with severe threat wrapping up by mid evening, and showers ending by late night/Midnight.

Quiet weather overnight, with comfortable temperatures.  Lows dip to the lower to middle 60s.

Tuesday:

Boundary moving through the area will bring a decent amount of cloud cover, along with a few scattered showers and storms through mid afternoon.  Should see boundary move out by before the evening commute, leaving us dry Tuesday evening.

Highs top out around 80°.

Dry Stretch:

Spectacular weather setting up for the middle and end of the work week, including Carb Day.  Temperatures remain well above average, topping out in the lower to middle 80s.

Race/Memorial Day Weekend:

Still early, but leaving storm chances in for Saturday and Sunday.  Better of those chances look to be Sunday, but I’m not overly concerned as of yet in terms of the race.  Nothing shows a washout – so plenty of dry time, and of course a lot can, and will change between now and then.

8 Day Forecast:

Storm chances continue into Memorial Day, before drier weather settles in as we head back to work next Tuesday.
