Temperatures in the 60s and scattered rain returning Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Rain chances return Wednesday, with up and down temperatures expected for much of this week.

Tuesday Night:

Expect skies to remain clear through the evening hours. The breezy winds will subside quite a bit after the dinner hour tonight, leaving for a calm and clear night for central Indiana. Temperatures will drop into the low 30s for areas to the north of the Indy metro, but should stick in the upper 30s for areas to the south.

Freeze Warning is in effect for our far eastern counties through Wednesday morning.  Temperatures will slip below freezing for much of the northern half of the state – any plants outside will need to be protected from the sub freezing temperatures.

Wednesday:

The next system that will bring rain chances to the region takes aim at the region Wednesday. An advancing cold front will bring a line of showers into western portions of the state during the afternoon hours Wednesday. Rain should be in the Indy area by the evening commute tomorrow.

In addition, winds will pick up as the system moves through, with gusts up to 30mph at times starting Wednesday afternoon.

A few light snow showers may be possible overnight, as another shot of colder air slides into central Indiana for Thursday.  No accumulation is expected.

Highs top out in the lower 60s.

Thursday:

Expect a drop in temperatures for Thursday as a result of cooler air funneling in behind the cold front. Temperatures top out in the low 50s for Thursday, which will be roughly 10 degrees below average for this time of the year.

Winds will be blustery, especially in the morning, until the system pulls completely away to our east.

8-Day Forecast:

Better days are ahead this weekend as temperatures will warm up each day. We’ll reach the mid to upper 50s for Friday, top out near 60 on Saturday, and push into the low 60s for Sunday. Expect plenty of sunshine to be around for the weekend and lasting into the start of next week.
