Wintry mix possible for the Monday morning drive ahead of a holiday warm-up

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Sunday evening, everyone! We’ve remained cloudy and cool today as a cold front slowly sinks through central Indiana.

It’s brought light snow and a few sprinkles to northern Indiana, but southern Indiana will see the bulk of the wet weather over the next 24 hours.

Late this evening, rain will return to our south-westernmost communities.

Rain will continue through the first half of the overnight, mostly along and south of the I-70 corridor.

As temperatures slowly drop into Monday morning, most areas along the I-70 corridor will bottom out right at or just within a degree of the freezing point.

As we approach 32°, some moisture around I-70 will change over to a wintry mix of rain and wet snow, though little to no accumulation is likely. Just give yourself a few extra minutes for the morning drive.

After the cold start, temperatures will quickly climb back above freezing by late morning and we’ll eventually top out in the low 40s.

We’ll catch a lull in the action Monday afternoon before more rain redevelops by late day.

By late Monday night, lingering rain will change over to light snow showers and flurries.

The flurries and snow showers will continue into Tuesday with little to no accumulation.

We’ll dry out late Tuesday and temperatures will start to climb shortly thereafter.

If you have Thanksgiving travel plans anywhere in the Midwest, you will not have any problems getting to where you need to go. We’ll see near or above average temps Thursday through early next weekend before another big weathermaker arrives by the start of next work week.
