INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A former northern Indiana lawmaker has been named to a position on the Indiana Horse racing Commission.
Thomas Weatherwax of Logansport served in the Indiana House from 1984 to 1988 and the Indiana Senate from 1988 to 2008.
Gov. Mike Pence named him Tuesday to a four-year term on the commission, effective immediately.
Weatherwax retired in 2010 as corporate secretary and sales manager for The Andersons Inc., an Ohio-based agribusiness and retailer that operates grain elevators, distributes fertilizer and manages rail cars.
Pence also reappointed Steve Schaefer to another four-year term on the Horse Racing Commission. Schaefer is CEO of Schaefer Technologies Inc., an Indianapolis manufacturer.
