Baseball legend, Bo Jackson says he’s been suffering from non-stop hiccups for about a year and has tried several well-known remedies to rid himself of them, including – sniffing a porcupine’s rear end.
“I have done everything!” He says. “Scare me, drink water upside down, smell the [expletive] of a porcupine — it doesn’t work.” Jackson hasn’t come out and said where he got the idea that the whiff of a porcupine’s butt would do the trick but it’s a good thing he tried it out so none of us has to.
Nigel of WIBCs popular radio show Hammer & Nigel says “I’ve heard of it all but I’ve never heard that!” he continued on to say “I can’t stand hiccups for 5 minutes, let alone a whole year!”
A year of hiccups may seem absurd however it actually isn’t the longest someone has suffered from the bellows of hiccups. Iowa resident, Charles Osborne had the hiccups for a whopping 68 years! His hiccups started at the age of 20 until his death, according to the Guinness World Records.
Later in the segment, Hammer & Nigel chatted about superstar actor, Robert De Niro becoming a father again at 79-years-old totaling 7 children. “He’s got a big family! I’d say this is something!” Hammer exclaimed.

For Gen X and Millennials, it’s the end of an era. MTV News is set to shut down after 36 years on the air.
The decision was announced Tuesday by Paramount Media Networks causing a layoff effect of 25% of its workforce.
Head of Paramount, MTV, and Showtime, Chris McCarthy, explained to staff members in a memo Tuesday that “Despite the media giant’s “success” in streaming, the company continues to feel pressure from broader economic headwinds like many of our peers.”
He continued on to say “As a result, we have made the very hard but necessary decision to reduce our domestic team by approximately 25%. Through the elimination of some units and by streamlining others, we will be able to reduce costs and create a more effective approach to our business as we move forward.”
Popular radio hosts of WIBC’s “Hammer & Nigel,” enthusiastically expressed their thoughts on the matter.
As the conversation continued, the dynamic duo discussed how former Fox News personality, Tucker Carlson, plans to relaunch his political show on Twitter.

All-you-can-eat buffets are making a comeback this year as the pandemic comes to an end. Restaurant chains such as Old Country Buffet, CiCis Pizza, and Furr’s Fresh Buffet are examples of places that were affected by the lack of traffic. Industry Tracker Placer says visits compared to January 2020 and January 2021 are up 125 percent as of March. The turnaround follows a number of bankruptcies when COVID-19 restrictions were in place.
Nigel of WIBC’s beloved radio show Hammer and Nigel chimed in on this matter saying, “I was legitimately sad when COVID hit and all the buffets shut down and now I’m so happy to hear they are making a comeback!” Nigel then went into a ballad professing his love for all things food buffet. With Nation’s Restaurant News reporting that Golden Corral’s sales grew 14 percent last year compared to pre-pandemic, it looks like the public shares Nigel’s sentiments.
As the segment continued, Hammer and Nigel discussed a call for a Fast & Furious claims adjuster. Financebuzz, an informational site that offers money-related tips and recommendations, is looking for a “Fast & Furious claims adjuster.” The lucky individual would watch all 10 films, which includes the latest addition set to debut May 19 of this year, then notate the damages from each vehicle crash on screen. The details would have to include the extent of the damage, which vehicles were involved and the exact number of wrecks per-movie.
“I don’t think this is anything other than a waste of time,” Hammer explained. “I don’t think this is anything other than promotion for the new movie coming in May.” Financebuzz says they intend to use the findings to estimate the insurance impact of the global billion-dollar franchise’s reckless driving. The deadline to apply on the company’s website is May 19 and the lucky winner will be announced on May 26.

If you know a teacher who has positively impacted your life, today is the perfect day to celebrate them because it’s “National Teachers Appreciation Day!” First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt advocated “National Teachers Appreciation Day” back in 1953 as a way to honor teachers. Then the National Parent Teachers Association solidified the date by putting the decision to a vote. Later, the NPTA would dedicate the entire first full week of May as “National Teacher Appreciation Week”.
Popular WIBC radio hosts, Hammer and Nigel show their support for the holiday saying “A good teacher is somebody that will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you have a really good teacher, thank them!” The pair left no stone unturned however as they also mentioned the teachers who weren’t necessarily the most encouraging and how, despite their lack of support, Hammer and Nigel grew up to be the outspoken, comedic hosts we know and love today.
Later in the segment, the duo filled us in on the Hollywood writers’ strike that’s in full force as of Monday of this week after contract negotiations failed. The impact is resulting in a halt in the production of several television shows. Hammer and Nigel spoke on the importance of the strike having not only completely shut down productions and what it means for viewers but also pointed out what it means for the crews behind the scenes.
WGA members went on strike for 100 days back in November of 2007 over issues such as writers’ salaries. Late-night shows that depend solely on their writers like “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Saturday Night Live” would be hit first. “Back in 2007, Jay Leno actually paid his staff and crew out of his own pocket due to the strike. If their writers go away the shows shut down,” stated Hammer and Nigel.
