INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One more day of overhead wildfire smoke before our best chance for widespread precipitation moves in for the end of the weekend.

Friday:

Air quality alerts are again in place for most of the state, as northeasterly winds continue to drag down smoke from the ongoing wildfires in Canada.

Outside of that, it should be another really nice day. Highs should hover around 80° with lots of sunshine this afternoon.

Friday night:

Still a bit hazy through the overnight, but otherwise quiet. Lows fall to the low/mid 50s.

Saturday:

Winds will shift ahead of a cold front, which should help to clean the air up a bit. We should see a lot of sunshine with highs in the mid 80s.

Sunday:

Low pressure with trailing cold front will take aim on the state Sunday – likely for the afternoon and evening hours, brining Indiana’s best chance for rain in almost 3 weeks. No severe weather is expected, and many areas around the state should see at least 0.5″ of rainfall for the day, while others could go as high as 1.0″ with some isolated higher amounts possible.

Highs top out in the mid 70s.

8 day forecast:

Dry air quickly moves in behind the Sunday storm system. Monday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s. Low pressure spinning east of Michigan could drag down a few isolated showers for Tuesday and Wednesday, but we’re not expecting widespread rain at this time. Temperatures will hover just below to near normal through the middle of next week. Could see an uptick in temps near the end of the extended.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Air quality alerts in place for all of Indiana Thursdya.

Thursday:

Quiet day ahead. Northeast winds again will bring down smoke from ongoing wildfires in southeastern Canada. Some of that smoke could make it down to the surface. All of the state is under an air quality alert. Those with breathing issues and other sensitive groups should limit their time outdoors Thursday and Friday.

Otherwise, the rest the day looks great. Temperatures should be quite comfortable despite the hazy conditions, with highs in the upper 70s.

Tonight:

Mainly clear and again hazy. A little chilly in spots, too. Lows fall to the lower 50s.

Friday:

Another round of hazy conditions, but nice temperatures. Highs top out in the lower 80s.

Weekend:

Winds will shift on Saturday, which should kick out the overhead smoke. Expect partly cloudy conditions and highs in the mid 80s.

Upper level wave along with a cold front will move in Sunday, bringing Indiana’s best chance for rain that we have had in weeks. Rain could arrive as early as Saturday night, but looking mostly to be a Sunday/Sunday evening event. Many areas could pick up around 0.5″ of rain.

8 day forecast:

Pattern finally looks to be a bit more active heading into next week, with several little waves moving through the Midwest over the coming days, bringing with it several rain chances. Temperatures will remain just below average into early next week, with a warming trend on tap for the middle of the week.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Light showers will move out this morning, making for a sunny and comfortable end to the week.

Wednesday:

Cold front marching through continues to squeeze out very light showers for the southern half of the state this morning. Unfortunately, it won’t be enough to ease up the developing drought conditions, with only very light measurable amounts for southern Indiana through late morning.

Clouds will decrease heading into the afternoon. Dry air will make for some very pleasant conditions settling in, with highs in the mid/upper 70s this afternoon.

Wednesday night:

Clear and cool overnight. Lows fall to the mid 50s.

Thursday:

Sunny and mild. Highs in the mid/upper 70s.

Friday:

Sunny and slightly warmer. Highs in the lower 80s.

Weekend:

Dry and warm start to the weekend. Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s on Saturday. Upper level system with an attached cold front moves in on Sunday, bringing us the best chance for rain we have had in weeks. Mainly areas could get up to 0.5″ of rainfall to end the weekend, with some isolated higher amounts possible.

8 day forecast:

Active pattern possibly setting up for early next week, with a few rain chances Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will return to the upper 70s/lower 80s for the first half of the week.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The dry pattern continues for much of the week, with only spotty light rain chances possible for parts of the state leading into Wednesday morning.

Tuesday:

Wildfire smoke continues to hover overhead this morning, with a few stations around the state reporting some of that smoke has reached the surface. Expect a hazy look for much of the morning before winds shift this afternoon, which should push the overhead smoke south of the area.

An approaching cold front will slowly move in from the north. Probably won’t have enough moisture or instability for any showers during the day, but clouds will likely increase later this afternoon.

Highs top out in the lower/middle 80s.

Tuesday night:

Previously mentioned front will push through the state, sparking a few showers across our area. Unfortunately, rain will be very light and spotty at best for the overnight hours.

Lows fall to the lower 60s.

Wednesday:

Some lingering showers will be around for the morning hours in the wake of the cold front moving through – mainly south of I-70.

The rest of the day is dry and a bit cooler, with highs in the mid/upper 70s.

8 day forecast:

Quiet weather with gradually warming temperatures expected through Saturday. Still hopeful for our best chance for rain and storms in weeks by the end of this weekend. We could see showers as early as Saturday night, but looking more likely for Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Dry weather pattern continues with a much welcomed cool down to open the work week.

Monday:

Wildfire smoke from fires in Quebec and other parts of southeastern Canada continue to filter down into the Midwest due to a northeast flow. Should not have an impact at the surface, but look for hazy skies and as a result, slightly cooler temperatures this afternoon. Highs top out in the upper 70s/lower 80s.

Monday night:

Mainly clear and comfortably cool. Lows fall to the upper 50s.

Tuesday:

Another hazy day, but should be a bit warmer. Highs top out in the mid 80s.

A weak cold front moving through late Tuesday night could spark a few isolated showers. Definitely not the widespread rain we need, but a few lucky areas could pick up some light rainfall amounts.

Wednesday:

Reinforcing shot of really dry air behind the front will keep our weather pleasant for the mid-week, with highs returning to the upper 70s/lower 80s.

8 day forecast:

Quiet weather continues through the end of the week. Some signs of hope this weekend in terms of rain, as the ridge that’s kept us quiet for the past week or so starts to break down. Shower chances could return as early as late this weekend, with possible activity continuing into next week.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Well above average temperatures continues much of this week, with very limited rain chances over the extended forecast period.

Sunday:

Quiet weather for the day, with slightly cooler, but still very warm temperatures for this time of year. Some smoke from wildfires raging in Quebec will likely hover overhead today – making for a little more vibrant sunrise and sunset. The bright blue sky will also be a bit muted.

Highs top out in the mid/upper 80s this afternoon.

Sunday night:

With dry air in place and a northwest flow, temperatures should be a bit cooler and more comfortable overnight. Lows fall to the mid/upper 50s.

Monday:

Quiet and warm start to the work week. Highs will reach the middle 80s.

Tuesday:

A weak cold front will drag in from the north. There is a slight chance for a shower Tuesday afternoon/evening. With already dry air in place, along with a reinforcing shot of drier air behind the front, precipitation will be very limited.

Highs top out in the low/mid 80s.

8 day forecast:

Cooler temperatures settle in for the middle/end of the week, with highs a bit closer to the seasonal normal. Rain chances a slim to none through at least the start of the weekend. Some hints of an storm system moving in as early as Saturday night/Sunday, but too far out to be confident on the “if” and “when”.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Well above average temperatures continue with very limited precipitation chances over the next few days.

Saturday:

Quiet and mild star this morning will shift to a hot afternoon. Highs will top out around 90 later in the day.

Saturday night:

A few isolated showers and storms will develop by late afternoon/early evening, sliding in from the northeast and moving southwest. Most will remain dry, but a few good downpours could be possible for a few lucky neighborhoods.

Lows fall to the mid 60s overnight.

Sunday:

Sunny skies will return. Temperatures will again be very warm, but maybe not quite as hot as the past couple of day, with many hitting the mid 80s.

Monday:

Very warm and dry start to the work week, with highs to the mid 80s.

8 day forecast:

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Summer heat moves in, bringing several rounds of 90° temperatures to central Indiana, with limited rain chances through the weekend.

Wednesday:

Sunny start to the day. A few clouds start to pop late morning, and a few isolated downpours/storms will also fire with the heating of the afternoon. Like Tuesday, coverage will be limited, but those lucky enough to get rain could get a good amount.

Highs top out in the upper 80s.

Wednesday night:

Mostly clear and again mild. Lows fall to the mid 60s.

Thursday:

Sunny morning with a few spotty showers/storms possible in the afternoon. Highs back to the upper 80s/lower 90s.

Friday:

Drier air settles in so no rain chance for the afternoon. Temps will likely be a few degree warmer, making for a hot end to the week. Most should make a run at 90°.

Weekend:

Hot and dry conditions this weekend, with highs around 90°. A few more clouds are possible on Sunday, but not enough to really limit temperatures much.

8 day forecast:

Some signs of an air mass change by early/mid week. Chance of showers/storms Monday and Tuesday should bring in some cooler air on the back end by mid-week, returning to more normal levels for early June.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Summer temperatures settle in for the next several days with a few spotty rain chances possible.

Tuesday:

Quiet and mild start to the day. Humidity will be up just a touch this afternoon, which could aid in a few spotty downpours/thunderstorms to develop during the peak heating of the day. Most areas should stay dry, but those that are lucky enough to get under one of these pop-ups could get a much needed drink!

Highs top out in the mid/upper 80s.

Tuesday night:

Isolated rain/storm chances will die out once the sun sets. Lows will fall to the mid 60s.

Wednesday:

Sunny, hot and a little muggy. A few isolated downpours may develop for the afternoon, again. Highs top out near 90°

Thursday:

Another hot day with a few spotty rain chances during the peak heating hours. Highs should reach near 90°.

8 day forecast:

Humidity will dial back a bit with high pressure sliding in from the south and sliding west – keeping the heat in place but pulling in drier air. Temperatures will hover around 90° between Friday through Monday. A cold front is set to move in Monday/Tuesday, bringing a chance for much needed rain with slightly cooler temps.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The dry stretch looks to continue for much of this week, as hot temperatures settle in to open the new month.

Monday:

Mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions for much of the day. Warmer temperatures, with highs in the mid 80s.

Monday night:

Mostly clear and mild. Lows fall to the lower 60s.

Tuesday:

Should be a sunny start, with a few cumulus clouds popping for the afternoon. Can’t rule out a rogue shower/storm for the afternoon but most should be dry. Highs top out in the upper 80s.

Wednesday:

Same setup – mostly sunny dry and very warm conditions with the possibility of a pop up afternoon storm. Highs flirt with 90.

8 day forecast:

Heat continues to build for the end of the week into the weekend, with highs well into the 90s. Humidity should stay rather low – keeping much needed rain chances slim.
