Hoosier Homestead Awards announced

More than 70 Hoosier farm families have received the Hoosier Homestead Award in recognition of their commitment to Indiana agriculture. The awards were presented by Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler at the Indiana State Fair.

Allegiant to offer new Florida nonstop flight

Air travelers from Indianapolis International Airport will have another nonstop destination later in the year as Allegiant (Nasdaq: ALGT) has added a flight to Key West, Florida. The airport says the route, which will begin in December, is its first nonstop flight to the popular destination.

United Way awards millions in central Indiana

United Way of Central Indiana is awarding $7.5 million to 25 community organizations through its Family Opportunity Fund. The nonprofit says the recipients serve families in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan and Putnam counties.

IEDC names Executive VP

Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers has announced David Rosenberg is the new executive vice president of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. Rosenberg most recently served as vice president of operations for Indianapolis-based Market Street Group.

Innovcare to develop primary care facility

A new $5 million community-focused primary care facility is coming to Indianapolis as part of a joint project between Indianapolis-based Innovcare, Indianapolis Public Schools and American Health Network. The new clinic will provide primary care to IPS teachers and employees at no cost while also serving as a primary hub for the area's senior community.

Colts sign GM, head coach to extensions

The Indianapolis Colts have signed General Manager Chris Ballard and Head Coach Frank Reich to contract extensions through the 2026 season. Ballard is entering his fifth season as general manager and Reich will starting his fourth season at the helm of the team.

Duke Energy Foundation awards grants

Several workforce development and education programs in Indiana have been awarded a total of $280,000 in grants from the Duke Energy Foundation. The grants to the 11 recipients will be used to help build a pipeline of workers prepared for employment.

First Financial Corp. acquiring Hancock Bancorp

Terre Haute-based First Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: THFF) has announced a merger with Hancock Bank & Trust Co., based in Kentucky. First Financial says the deal is valued at more than $31 million.

Northern Indiana United Ways to merge

Lake Area United Way and United Way of Porter County have agreed to merge into a single organization, United Way of Northwest Indiana. The process began in March after Lake Area United Way Chief Executive Officer Lisa Daugherty left her position to lead the Center for Workforce Innovations.

Marian University adds new residence hall

Marian University in Indianapolis recently held a grand opening ceremony for its newest addition to campus, the Caito-Wagner Residence Hall. The 57,000-square-foot building will house 210 students in 112 rooms arranged in a pod formation to encourage collaboration.
