Community Link: African American Coalition of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each week in Community Link Carolene Mays-Medley and Marco Dominguez take a look at an organization or business that is making a positive impact on the community.

The African American Coalition of Indianapolis is a collaboration of civic, social service, and community service organizations promoting the engagement of African Americans on relevant issues and the political process.

Willis Bright, president of the Indianapolis base, stopped by the WISH-TV studios to talk about the different issues facing minority communities and how the group plans to address them.

“Three priority issues are: civilians on the use of force board that the city is creating, continuing to get people to register to vote and fill out the census and collecting issues that various aspects of the community view as key community issues,” said Bright.

Also in this week’s Community Link, we took a look back at the life of Grisel Barajas, a local advocate and radio host who was killed in a motorcycle crash earlier this month.
