Community Link: Indiana Latino Expo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On this week’s edition of Community Link, we discussed the Indiana Latino Expo with Marina Da Re. Marina is the assistant executive director for the expo.

What is the Indiana Latino Expo?

The ILE is a non profit organization state wide that helps the Latino community and the community in general as well, creating opportunities for businesses, organizations and the Latino families.

What kind of activities does the organization plan throughout the year and how do they help the community?

We have many activities, we have the mayor’s breakfast, the golf outing. but we have the Indiana Latino Expo this October 13 that has so many different activities that I’m looking forward to explaining a little bit more.

We have the health fair, we’ll be providing health services for free for everyone, not only the Latino community. we also have the consular services: we will have 6 different countries bring their consulates here to Indianapolis to provide the different services for free as well. We will have a soccer tournament for kids, they can sign up through our website and we’ll also have the first talent show this year.

Sounds like a fun expo but also very worthwhile for the Latino community. Especially for businesses we want to create a platform not only for Latino businesses but everyone that wants to participate.

What is unique about this year’s expo?

The consular services is very unique. we know that sometimes for Latino families it’s very hard to get a chance to go to their embassies for consular services because they are Washington D.C. or Chicago, just not here in Indianapolis, so we’re bringing those here so they can have access to those services for free.
