INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Each week in Community Link, Carolene Mays-Medley and Marco Dominguez take a look at an organization or business that is making a positive impact on the community.
This week, Katie Melnick, the deputy prosecutor and supervisor of the Special Victims Unit in Marion County was on the program.
One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually assaulted before the age of 18 and one in five women in Indiana have been raped.
Melnick stopped by to talk about her department, how they investigate and prosecute crimes involving sexual assault.
She also explained what sexual assault encompasses.
