Former Colt wins Ohio House seat

(WISH) — A former wide receiver with the Indianapolis Colts is projected to win a congressional seat, according to the Associated Press.

Anthony Gonzalez was running in Ohio’s 16th congressional district as a Republican.

Gonzalez, 34, is from Cleveland and played college ball at Ohio State University. He was drafted in the 1st round in 2007 by the Colts with the 32nd overall pick.

In five seasons with the Colts, Gonzalez caught a total of 99 passes and gained 1307 yards with seven touchdowns. 

Gonzalez defeated Democrat Susan Moran Palmer for the open congressional seat.
