‘Gr8 Comeback’: Ann’s Restaurant welcomes brunch fans back to dine-in

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH)– Ann’s Restaurant, a popular family-owned restaurant in Franklin, has been around for 68 years.

The restaurant serves up a brunch that owner, Diana Wilson, says is highlighted by what she calls the best french toast around.

“I consider it the best,” Wilson said. “I’m always disappointed anywhere else I go. I love it.”

The business has been a part of Wilson’s family since day one, but unlike her aunt and her mother, as the owner she’s had to face the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a place that’s been known for being busy inside, she admits switching to carry-out only was a challenge.

“It’s been a learning curve,” Wison said. “We weren’t used to doing an exclusively carry out, but I can’t tell you how wonderful my staff has been. It’s a different way of living and we’re trying to keep it as safe as possible for them and our customers.”

Although it’s a new normal to get used to, she says it’s worth it to see their loyal customers back inside the restaurant.

“It puts a smile on your face to see these smiling customers,” she said. “It means the world to us. We know their names, we know their families and it’s just wonderful to see them in here again.”

The restaurant has adjusted with new practices, like keeping six feet of distance between tables and expanding their seating to outside. The employees are also following some new guidelines to keep everyone safe.

“[We’re] trying to do all we can to help prevent the spread of the COVID,” Wilson said.

Now with their doors back open they invite first timers and loyal customers to come in for brunch.
