‘Gr8 Comeback’: Maialina Italian Kitchen + Bar
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Lawrence Green, the owner of Maialina Italian Kitchen & Bar, says the restaurant brings Old World, traditional, “comfort,” Italian food and caters it to the new generation.
They’ve been bringing that strategy to their customers’ tables since July 2019 from 1103 Prospect St.
However, he says after a successful first six months in business, they’ll need the community’s support to keep it all going after the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s been a tough one, but we really rallied, had a lot of customer support and comeback,” Green said. “It’s comfort food. It’s a very family-kind-of-style restaurant. We’re doing our best to keep the tables socially distanced. Everybody’s wearing their masks, and we’re doing our best to keep everyone safe and give them the same food they expected before.”
Shane Lovins, the restaurant’s general manager, says after being in the Fountain Square neighborhood for more than three decades, he’s witnessed the community come together in a special way.
“I see a lot of community support a lot of regulars coming in, calling in for to-go orders [and] even local businesses were supporting each other and pushing businesses each others’ way keep everything going here in fountain Square. That’s the main thing. “
