11th annual Million Meal Marathon kicks off Oct. 11

Over the past 11 years, more than 17,400 volunteers have hand-packed meals, and thanks to volunteers and sponsors, Million Meal Movement has provided more than 31.5 million meals to hungry Hoosiers. Nancy Hintz, co-founder of Million Meal Movement, joined us today to talk about the event!

The Million Meal Marathon kicks off on Oct. 14 with a special marathon tip-off event with the Indiana Pacers and Fever. Businesses, community organizations, families and individuals are invited to hand package the organization’s nutritious mac & cheese dinner for Indiana’s hungry from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. During the Million Meal Marathon events, volunteers will add the dry ingredients to plastic bags, weigh, seal and box them in teams. 

Randy and Nathan even got to demonstrate packing a bag! Additional packing events, where smaller groups of volunteers come together during two-hour shifts, are available from October 14 to November 19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a few weekends at Million Meal Movement headquarters, 9250 Corporation Drive, Indianapolis.
