Celebrating Flag Day with Firefighter Tim’s special red, white & blue sauces, fruit parfait

Monday was a red, white and blue themed morning as we celebrated Flag Day with Firefighter Tim of the Carmel Fire Department!

Honey Chipotle Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons chipotle powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce of your choice

Directions

Mix ingredients together in sauce pan.  Bring to boil. Set aside to thicken.

Garlic Cumin Greek Yogurt Sauce

Ingredients

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Splash of lemon juice

Directions

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy.

Blueberry BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 cups blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Glug of molasses
  • ¼ cup of maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin
  • ½ teaspoon Chile powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1. Sauté onions and garlic in a sauce pan. 

2. Add the rest of the ingredients. 

3. Bring to a boil.

4. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes on low heat. 

5. Blend all contents in blender.
