It’s a first of its kind, and we’re trying it right here on Indy Style!

Chilly Water Brewing Company will celebrate its four-year anniversary on Saturday, July 7. As part of the festivities, the brewery will feature 26 beers on tap and showcase live music on the patio AND release its first sour beer in bottle, Norwegian Wood.

You heard that right, SOUR BEER! Skip DuVall and Matt Chandler, Chilly Water Brewing Company, tell us more:

Norwegian Wood is a straight, unblended lambic beer that was aged for 15 months in virgin white oak casks with a blend of Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces followed by another 12 months in bottle, conditioned with neutral brewer’s yeast.

Also available will be two of the Turn It Up Series bottles, including: Dark Sarcasm: a 9.5 percent ABV Imperial Stout aged in Hotel Tango Bourbon Barrels and Barley O’Riley; and an English Barleywine aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels checking in at 11.6 percent ABV.

In 2014, Chilly Water Brewing Company owners concentrated on opening a brewpub focused on the local community and soon found the Fletcher Place neighborhood to call home.  Named after the Widespread Panic song, Chilly Water, music was a common theme during planning, which also helped create the location’s overall vibe. Chilly Water opened as a music joint hosting bands from all over the country and the stage was set after partnering with musician and award-winning brewer Dan Krzywicki.  In addition to beer, Chilly Water serves food including appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, Skip’s Balls (named after the owner) for dessert and more.
