Donuts galore, all to help teachers do more!

On today’s Indy Style, Margaret Sheehan, Executive Director, Teachers’ Treasures, and KK Byland, VP of Human Resources of the American College of Education, tell us more about this year’s Circle City Donut Dash 5K benefiting local teachers.

– Circle City Donut Dash 5 is a walker- and runner-friendly event that supports teachers and local schools. The Donut Dash attracts educators, students and community members to a fun event benefitting Teachers’ Treasures, a not-for-profit that obtains and distributes school supplies free to teachers of students in need.
– In any given year, Teachers’ Treasures has been able to distribute as much as $375,000 in school supplies, in part due to the proceeds from the Donut Dash.
– This year’s race will feature IPS Superintendent Aleesia Johnson as the honorary starter. As in years past, the 5K will include two options: a main race, featuring a halfway point challenge where participants attempt to down a dozen donut holes, and a non-donut-challenge race, where participants can enjoy the donuts afterward.
– Joining the sponsor roster this year is Teach Indy whose community is working together to create stronger schools, empower teachers, and transform the lives of students with a great education.

Teachers’ Treasures is a not-for-profit that obtains and distributes school supplies free to teachers of students in need. Every day at public, private, charter, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education.
