Circle City Sweets shows how to make their Guinness chocolate cupcakes, Jameson Ganache cupcakes

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Cindy Hawkins, pastry chef/owner of Circle City Sweets, makes us a Guinness chocolate cupcake, with a Jameson Ganache center and a Bailey’s icing. And may we add… it’s AMAZING!

About Circle City Sweets:
Cindy Hawkins grew up in a baking family, baking alongside her grandmother, mother and sisters. Sugar cookies were a favorite. In 2006, she launched Circle City Sweets participating in farmer’s markets as well as taking on her first Pastry Chef position. In 2008, she moved to Chicago to attend the prestigious French Pastry School. After graduating at the top of her class, she returned to Indianapolis to expand Circle City Sweets. In 2010 she opened her first retail location at the Indianapolis City Market and continues to participate in many local farmer’s markets, provided wholesale pastries to locations such as Nordstrom, Circle City Soups, Mills Catering, Foundry Provisions, Calvin Fletcher’s, Wildowood Market and many other local coffee shop and has a strong catering and wedding business. Circle City Sweets is Indianapolis’ go-to spot for the best croissants and macarons in the city.

In 2021, Circle City Sweets relocated to the AMP at 16 Tech. In 2006, Hawkins and her husband, Chef Roger Hawkins, also launched Circle City Soups, an all from scratch kitchen specializing in soups, as well as a full menu of sandwiches and salads. In 2016, the Hawkins’ expanded Circle City Soups to the Ivy Tech Lawrence campus and launched Circle City Boulangerie, an artisan bread kitchen at the City Market. In 2017, they purchased Mile Square Coffee, making Circle City a full service venture.

Circle City Sweets specializes in artisan, made from scratch pastries, breads, candies and jams using locally grown ingredients whenever possible. In addition to their retail and wholesale business and the busy production schedule at the shop, Chef Cindy Hawkins and her staff also teach many classes, with our French Macaron class being the most popular. Circle City Sweets has been covered by Midwest Living Magazine, Inside Indiana Business and People Style magazines. Chef Hawkins competed at the World Food Championships in the Dessert category in 2015, 2018, where she placed 6th, and again in 2019.
