Firefighter Tim’s Post-Holiday Party Workout Routine

The holidays are some of the absolute busiest times, especially when it comes to get-togethers and parties. It’s easy to indulge in a little more than normal during this time, and it’s totally normal to not feel like doing any exercise the next day.

But Firefighter Tim says don’t let all the fun of holiday parties derail your fitness goals. Here’s a nice recovery workout that can help get you feeling better post-party.

First and most important:  hydration!!

Step one to this workout: hydrate, hydrate and hydrate. If you are not hydrated, exercises could could make you feel worse. So after we’ve hydrated, let’s get started.

Workout:

Start with 12 to 15 minutes of light cardio – either walking or on your favorite elliptical, treadmill, or stationary bike. Remember, we’re not going for any land speed records. We’re getting our blood pumping and working on recovery.

Now let’s get in some stretching.

1.    Tripod into kneel and sky reach
2.    Child pose
3.    Lying on our backs, knee to chest
4.    Still lying on our back, full extension stretch
5.    Sitting chin down and side to side.

Now some resistance

1.    Cross over jumping jack.
2.    3 in one squats.
3.    Full release push-ups or push and reach
4.    Low toe crunch.
5.    Ground dips
Finish with full extension stretching and child pose and breathing.
