How to make DIY disinfectant wipes

Don’t be too concerned about not being able to find disinfectant wipes in stores, WISH-TV Storm Track 8 Meteorologist Tara Hastings shows you how to make your own with products you likely already have at home.

Ingredients needed:

  • A roll of paper towels cut in half
  • rubbing alcohol
  • vinegar
  • water
  • dish soap
  • essential oil (optional)
  • container to hold your wipes

Take a roll of paper towels and cut it half using a kitchen knife. You also need some kind of container, a leftover disinfecting wipe container or we found a tin that used to have candy in it. Get the kids involved! Help them measure the ingredients and create a label with construction paper.

In a large bowl, add a quarter cup of water and a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol. To this mixture, add a half cup of vinegar. Add one teaspoon of dish soap. One option to help add a fresh scent is to use 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil.

Give this mixture a quick stir.

Take the roll of paper towels you cut in half and add them to the container of your choice. Pour the liquid mixture all over the roll of paper towels. Remove the cardboard. Remove one paper towel at a time from the center.
