Local author J.T. Grainger has released the first of four novels in his new The World Beyond the Stairs series, titled Mary’s Journey.

Grainger will speak at nErD Camp Indy on Thursday, July 19th at the Chapel Hill Center in Indianapolis to discuss Mary’s Journey, juggling a full-time job and family while still continuing to write, and how to use the novel to initiate thought-provoking discussions.

Book Description:

A horrific ice storm hits the city of Indianapolis. A woman named Mary Reynolds is caught in the middle of it and takes refuge at her grandmother’s house for the night. Unbeknownst to her, she opens an invisible passageway to a strange new world called Divinity. In this wondrous land, adults resemble children and all living creatures communicate through a special telepathic bond. Unfortunately, Divinity is governed by Count Devursuraac who rules with an iron fist as he challenges all those who refuse to follow his unjust laws. As Mary discovers the beauty and horrors of Divinity, she and her companions search for a way that will take her back home to her husband and children. Reality or a dream? You decide.     

Author Bio:

J.T. Grainger is a new fantasy/science fiction author. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky and grew up in Evansville, Indiana. Since his youth, he has always been fascinated by tales that involve imaginary worlds or contain extraordinary elements. He holds a degree from Indiana University and works in education providing support and services to high school students with special needs. Currently, he resides in Indianapolis, loves traveling and has been fortunate enough to have visited more than 35 countries. He also spent over a period of eight years writing and revising his new children’s fantasy fiction series The World Beyond the Stairs.
