The Indianapolis Ballet’s new season kicks off next weekend with a spectacular tribute program to “The Father of American Ballet.”

Chris Lingner & Yoshiko Kamikusa, founding company members, preview “Balancing Acts: An Evening of George Balanchine” and the rest of the new season’s productions.

The program includes three of Balanchine’s original works – The Four Temperaments, Raymonda Variations and Serenade. Indianapolis Ballet founding artistic director, Victoria Lyras, was a student under Balanchine at The School of American Ballet in NYC, so it’s very much an honor for her to stage authentic Balanchine ballets with this new company.

Tickets are $25/$30/$40 for adults, with $5 discounts available for students (including college) and seniors (65+).“Balancing Acts: An Evening of George Balanchine” at The Toby at Newfields
                – Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
                – Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
                 – Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3:00 p.m.

To stage these master works by Balanchine, Indianapolis Ballet had to submit materials to The George Balanchine Trust to prove it could dance these incredibly skillful and challenging pieces of repertoire. A pair of repetiteurs from The George Balanchine Trust have rotated time in Indy since late August to stage these iconic ballets, which includes 20 full company and apprentice dancers.

To make the September residency an even better date night option next weekend, the Indianapolis Ballet is working with The Meridian restaurant and Ball and Biscuit on food and drink specials. Show your ticket the day of your show at The Meridian and get a free appetizer for your table.
