Indianapolis Opera previews their weekend performance of Madame Butterfly

David Starkey, Indianapolis Opera General Director joined us today along with the Indianapolis Opera to give us a performance of the Flower Duet from Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, featuring Indianapolis Opera resident artists, soprano Hayley Lipke and mezzo-soprano Madison Montambault.

You can see a longer and live performance from them online this Sunday.

The Indianapolis Opera presents a special 90-minute LIVE staged broadcast of Madame Butterfly from the Basile Opera Center on November 1, 2020 at 4 p.m.

It features Ganson Salmon, Tenor, as Pinkerton, Hayley Lipke, Soprano, as Madame Butterfly and Maestro Alfred Savia as Principal Guest Conductor.

Madame Butterfly, an achingly beautiful and powerful opera, is about an enchanting geisha, Cio-Cio-San, who loses her heart to an American naval lieutenant and marries him. After he leaves Japan, she waits three long years for his return. We share her joy when he returns, and her utter despair when she realizes that he’s married an American woman and has come to take his young son, Cio-Cio-San’s child, back with him.

Tickets are $15 per household.

The concert is supported by the Indy Arts and Culture Restart & Resilience Fund: An Arts Council of Indianapolis program made possible by Lilly Endowment Inc.
