“In Open Air” is a collection of works by some of the best contemporary, plein air landscape painters working in the United States today.
Plein Air art by local and national artists featured at Clowes Hall
The exhibition is at Butler University in the lobby of Clowes Memorial Hall and runs from Tuesday, August 7 to Sunday, October 7. Artist and curator Justin Vining will give a guided tour at the opening reception on Tuesday, August 28 at 6 p.m. Plein air comes from the French en plein air, which translates to “in the open air.” Artists paint outdoors to embrace the nature and concentrate on a single scene until it is completed.
Justin invited 17 plein air painters to display a total of 52 original works at Clowes Memorial Hall. For more information, visit https://butlerartscenter.org/, and stay up-to-date on the latest exhibitions and work from Justin at www.justinvining.com.
