Travel to New Orleans without leaving Indy!

Joe Vuskovich, owner of Yats Restaurants, & Barnes and Thornburg’s Jan Carroll preview Indiana Landmark’s annual Rescue Party, benefiting its Endangered Places Programs, which help save historic structures in jeopardy and revitalize Hoosier communities.

“A Hot Time in the Big Easy” is this year’s Rescue Party theme as attendees will be transported to New Orleans with food, drinks, music, décor and more. 

Rescue Party Details:
•   Saturday, April 27 at the Indiana Landmarks Center from 6 – 11 p.m.
•   Welcome music by Pork & Beans Brass Band sets the tone with Dixieland jazz.
•    Lavish hors d’oeuvres stations and late-night buffet featuring NOLA-inspired fare, dessert bar featuring beignets and traditional New Orleans-style coffee. 
•    Free Hurricane tasting: Joe Vuskovich, owner of YATS restaurants, will mix up traditional Hurricanes for people to sample.
•    Free craft beer supplied by Upland Brewing Company, specialty cocktails including Hurricanes and Sazeracs at cash bars.
•    Dancing to Sunset Stomp Jazz Band.
•    Suggested dress is New Orleans jazz party style – think vivid colors, flashy suits, feather boas.
•    Live auction with a handful of one-of-a-kind experiences raises money for Indiana Landmarks’ Endangered Place Programs. Auction packages include:
     o    Private tour of historic Indianapolis neighborhood with Indiana Landmarks’ president Marsh Davis in his 1929 Ford Model A, with trip to see private car collection at Stutz Building.
     o    Private tour of Columbus landmarks with Modern architecture expert.
     o    Tour of three private historic homes from 1910 to 1970 in Indy’s historic Brendonwood neighborhood, with period-inspired food and drink at each. Includes ride in 1976 GMC Palm Beach RV (same vintage as the shag-carpeted “Green Machine” in the movie Stripes).
     o    Overnight excursion to Madison, IN, charming historic river town.
     o    Three-day trip to New Orleans, benefitting Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans.

The event fills all the beautiful spaces in Indiana Landmarks Center at 1201 Central Ave., a former United Methodist Church, spectacularly restored as headquarters for Indiana Landmarks. See the amazing domed ceiling, historic stenciled and gilded walls and organ pipes, soaring wood-paneled theater.

This year’s guests will be the first to find out the 10 Most Endangered Places in Indiana.
