WITNESSES of Robert Kennedy’s speech the night MLK was shot detail historic night, honoring Kennedy King Memorial Initiative

Nearly 53 years ago, Robert Kennedy stood on the back of a pickup truck during a routine visit to Indianapolis to deliver the news no one saw coming– Martin Luther King Jr. had been fatally shot.

Kennedy delivered the message in a moment of calm, togetherness and peace. Here are two witness accounts from that day in 1968, as we honor the Kennedy King Memorial Initiative, forever a historic place in our city.
