Your car’s winter checklist
Don’t be left out in the cold… getting your car ready for winter!
Alaina Williams, Assistant Manager, Best-One of Indy, Fishers, runs down the checklist of what we need to know to prepare for the bitter temperatures ahead:
• Check your car battery – cold and wet weather can put a strain on your car’s battery
• Check your engine coolant & antifreeze – general rule of thumb, this should be done every 2 years
• Wipers and wiper fluid – winter driving is hard enough, reduced visibility makes it much worse
• Check exterior lights – days are shorter during the winter months so while it’s a simple thing, be sure to check your exterior lights
• Inspect & maybe Replace Tires – check the tread, air pressure and possibly investing in winter tires
• Get a tune-up – schedule this before winter sets in; cold weather magnifies existing problems such as hard starts and sluggish performance
• And don’t forget about your brakes!
